Get more mileage from your crafty stash!
Hi friends! Have you ever taken a look at your craft space and realized that you have a whole lot of products that are specific to a holiday and so they sit on the shelf? Today, I want to share how you can get more mileage from your crafty stash! I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of holiday stamp sets that I only use once a year, and I wanted to find a way to get more use out of them.
I absolutely love the quokkas from Kat Scrappiness,. Actually, let’s be honest! I am obsessed with them. We are having a fun Color plus Pick 3 Challenge over in our Facebook group and I wanted to create a fun inspiration card. I decided that I would use the Be My Valentine stamp set to show that it is not just for Valentine’s Day.
I colored up this sweet fella using Copic markers and used the coordinating dies to cut it out. Using the Stitched Scalloped Square Dies, I die-cut a teal frame for the focal image and I set them aside. While, I love clean and simple cards, I really struggle with plain white cardstock. To combat that, I die-cut a card panel using my absolute favorite coverplate die – the A2 Quilted Backdrop Die. I also used the A2 Stitched Strips Dies to create some additional interest on the card and to incorporate all of the colors required in the challenge (Navy, Teal, and Coral)
For the sentiment, I stamped the “I Miss You” from the Quokka’n Up stamp set, and cut the sentiment up and backed it with coral card stock. I placed them each a little bit cock-eyed to add a touch of whimsy. To complete the card, I added a loopy bow to the back of the focal image and popped it up on foam dots before adding a handful of Crystal White Jewels.
To look at this, you would never know that this is a Valentine’s stamp set, would you? I encourage you to take a look at the holiday stamp sets in your stash to see how you can use them differently!
